Probability and the WoW TCG by Doombringer
TCG designers are math wizards, from Richard Garfield, the graduate student/math professor who created Magic, to the designers of today. Every aspect of the game can be expressed as a formula, a statistic, a ratio, or a cost-benefit relationship. This is necessary to achieve balance in the game and make sure no faction, class, or game mechanic is more powerful than any other.
Looking at the math behind games has always intrigued me. I’m going to throw a lot of numbers at you, so you’ll probably have to duck, run, or just roll with it. There will be some high concepts here but I will attempt to boil them down into terms you can relate to.

Game Theory: Tempo by steev
Hey everybody. I've decided to put the follow up Card Advantage article off for a bit to talk about Tempo.
Have you ever played against a weenie rush deck? Where they drop one ally on turn one, two on turn two, two on turn three, and you get overrun. That deck utilized the other 'most powerful' concept of Game Theory, tempo.

Game Theory: Card Advantage by steev
Hello everyone, I'm back with the first true installment of my series of articles on WoW theory. This particular edition is on one of the most important fundamental theory: Card advantage.
Card advantage boils down to a single idea: the player with more cards in hand has more options, and therefore, more easily wins the game. This simple idea is quite powerful in practice.

Classifying Deck Types by Doombringer
Being able to classify deck types has been around for a long while. Many types were established years ago during the first Magic releases. Since many players of WoW seem to be Magic players, this may be old news. For others, including those new to TCGs, learning and identifying deck types does have some usefulness. First, it might allow you to develop a deck type you might not have thought of. Second, it can help you identify the type of deck your opponent is running, and also to think about how you would counter different deck types and what kinds of cards you may want in your sideboard. I have identified 9 basic deck types in the game so far, with some subtypes. As the game is still new, I’m sure more types will surface, and I could be missing a few...

Game Theory: An Introduction by steev
So what exactly is game theory?
Game theory is defined by Wikipedia as "a branch of applied mathematics and economics that studies situations where players choose different actions in an attempt to maximize their returns." What does that mean, and how does it relate to the World of Warcraft TCG (hereafter abbreviated as 'WoW')?

The Quest for Quests by fakestreet
Quests are one of the most important part of the World of Warcraft TCG, if not THE most important part.
How could I make such a bold claim? Because the Game Dynamic supports Quests. It takes time and practice in test play and deck building to understand said Game Dynamic so let me share my experience with it.

Gen Con So Cal by Killian
Today was the first day of Gen Con So Cal, and the official WoW TCG site has some great coverage of the events of the first day, as well as plenty of photos. I especially liked reading abotu the Onyxia deck; it's just as hard as they've been making it sound, and it's sounds just as fun.
Go to the official site for more.
