Card Preview: Divine Shield by Killian

If you missed it, there was another card preview yesterday at the official WoW TCG site. The card, Divine Shield should be familiar to anyone who has played the online game. It protects the paladin from damage and effects for a short period of time.

From the article:

The TCG version of Divine Shield doesn’t come with any of the drawbacks you might expect; your protected hero can attack as normal, and if you have multiple copies in your hand, you can use them across consecutive turns. Meanwhile, the immunity to damage and abilities is completely preserved! Because it’s an instant ability, the Shield can even be used in response to the activation of a potential damage source, a troubling effect, or the declaration of an attack.

Card Previews and Demo Boosters by Killian
School has just started up again for me, so I didn't have time to make full news posts the last two days, but here's an update.

UDE has posted card previews for three new cards: Sen'zir Beastwalker, Bloodclaw and Multi-Shot. You can click on those links to view more information about the cards, or read the full preview articles at the official site here and here.

In addition to those card previews, there are a few more cards that have now been revealed in the new demo booster packs released today. If you weren't here a couple weeks ago, UDE released two demo decks in PDF format for fans to print out and play with before the official release. These "booster packs" give you more cards to print out and play with. There are two boosters, one for the Ta'zo demo deck and one for the Warrax demo deck.

Card Preview: Ya'mon by Killian

I love the name on today's preview card, Ya'mon. He's a troll rogue who gets stronger as he takes damage. With 6 health, he could easily end up with an extra 3 or 4 ATK before he kicks the bucket. If you can find a way to keep him alive while he's injured, you could dish out some serious damage to your opponent with him.

From the article:

Some rogues creep up on people while they aren’t looking and relieve them of various things, including but not limited to money, gear, and bodily organs. This isn’t really Ya’mon’s way. This Troll Rogue is the sort of ally who you really don’t want to mess with. For starters, he probably fights dirty, and to follow it up, he definitely doesn’t know when it’s time to quit.

Starting off with 4 ATK and 6 health for his cost of 6, Ya’mon is large, but not too concerningly so. In many respects, Ya’mon isn’t exactly showing his best at this point. It can take a little bit of time to wind up the Troll Rogue, but when you do and then let him go to town on an opposing force, be thankful to be standing behind him rather than in front.

Card Preview: Kaal Soulreaper by Killian

UDE has another epic card that was previewed today. Kaal Soulreaper is an orc warlock ally. At a cost of (7), his attack and health aren't what makes him so powerful, but rather his ability. For another (7) you can remove him from the game and bring every ally from both you and your opponent's graveyards into play.

From the article:

Many of you more hardcore fans out there will recognize Kaal as one of the warlock trainers in the Undercity. He’s been out of active duty for some time, but he’s still vital to the Horde’s training of up-and-coming new warlocks. Part of the reason he’s been out of commission for so long is that it would be incredibly unfair to the Alliance to let him beat the living daylights out of them.

Q&A With Danny Mandel by Killian
On Tuesday I got the chance to talk to the World of Warcraft TCG's lead designer Danny Mandel for a while and ask some questions, and I've finally gotten around to posting the chat log. Thanks to Danny for spending the time to answer questions and to Rachel Wann and Claudine Ricanor for helping set this up.

Below is a copy of the chat log for you to read.

Card Preview: Corruption by Killian

Check out today's preview card over at the official WoW TCG website. The card is Corruption, a warlock ability that attaches to a character, dealing damage every turn. For only a cost of (2), this could be a very powerful card if your opponent can't find a way to get rid of it. If it's placed on an ally, once that ally dies, its controller will also have to discard a card.

From the article:

The warlocks of Azeroth are a risk-taking breed. While bartering for power, they are more than happy to throw in a little piece of themselves—or anyone else nearby—to get the good stuff. If corruption is the process of slowly being lured away from the straight and narrow by something powerful, then warlocks are both its victims and its creators. It’s not personal, it’s just business.

Card Preview: Seal of Light by Killian

Today's preview card is Seal of Light, a paladin ability that keeps your hero alive longer by healing it every time you deal damage with a weapon. It can also be destroyed for (1) to heal 4 more damage. Check out the full article at the official website.

From the article:

I don’t think that we’ve seen a more apt representation of an ability from the WoW MMO than Seal of Light. The effect of healing a Paladin hero for 2 damage every time he or she deals combat damage with a weapon is almost identical to that of the spell from the MMO. But the portrayal of Seal of Light wouldn’t be complete without a “Judgement” effect. Unlike the MMO, there isn’t an actual Judgement ability in the WoW TCG. Rather, the Judgement effect of Seal of Light is incorporated into the second part of its power. By paying 1 resource, a Paladin can destroy Seal of Light (much the way that Judgement does) to heal an additional 4 damage.
